Gwenivere Clifford ruined my life. I had plans to go pro, plans to take care of my siblings, plans to overshadow my parents. And with one viral article, she somehow destroyed them all.

 

Now I have to come up with something else, some way to carve out a future that isn’t completely dictated by my father.

 

And Gwen might actually be the key.

 

When I catch her snooping around and asking one too many questions, it becomes clear that she could be a threat to me and my friends. And that someone needs to keep her close to find out how much she knows. So why not volunteer to lead her on a wild goose chase and get a little revenge in the process?

 

The plan is simple. Give her something to chase that she can never find.

 

But actually following through might be a bit more complicated than I originally thought. Can I keep Gwen at arm’s length while letting her in on one of the biggest secrets I’ve ever kept?

I came to Imperium Coast University for one thing: to follow the clues my mother left behind and find out what really happened the night she died.

 

Oh, and also get my degree.

 

But after my first published article accidentally goes viral, I find myself assigned to the sports section and the illustrious investigative journalism I expected to be doing disappears. But when one door closes…a perfect opportunity appears. This time in the form of Tanner Hill.

 

He’s the school’s star hockey goalie and best friends with the mysterious Russian cousins that I think might know more about what happened to my mom.

 

Only problem, Tanner hates me. Like glaring, ignoring my existence, scaring the shit out of me, hates me.

 

So, when he comes to me asking for a favor, I know there has to be an ulterior motive. But helping Tanner could get me the info I’ve been looking for. Seizing this opportunity might be the only way to get what I came for...I just hope it doesn’t cost more than I’m willing to pay.
